Teacher Lizzie
Peeps (3-4)
Lizzie Thigpin moved to Whidbey Island from the mainland five years ago with her husband and family. She has three children and is a biological mom plus an adoptive mom. When not in the classroom Lizzie loves to putter around the pottery studio and she's a voracious reader. She also sings in competitive barbershop quartets. She and her kids enjoy participating in 4H together and gardening. Lizzie loves to bring her passions into the classroom! You'll see evidence of her love of animals, books, music, and art everywhere. Lizzie has been working in early childhood for over 30 years. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education and a Montessori certification. She has experience leading Montessori and Reggio Emilia classrooms and has also taught Kindermusik . Lizzie strives to create a warm, inclusive, joyful learning environment for every person at The Birdhouse.
Teacher Wren
Chicks (1-2)
Wren Whitman’s global upbringing fueled her love for communication, art, and teaching. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and an associate's degree in Elementary Education. She is also a Waldorf certified teacher in early childhood education and a certified Simplicity Parenting Group Leader. Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE) and Nonviolent Communication also inspire her approach to educating and caring for children. Wren homeschooled her two children through Grade 5 and they now attend South Whidbey Middle and High school. Beyond her professional endeavors, Wren is passionate about food, flowers, and wool felting.
